Kingdoms of AmalurRevisión de Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-ReckoningUn testamento del progreso.
Loading
Kingdom of amalur re reckoning gameplay
In the shadow of these giants there were two other games that without making so much noise, also won a special place in the heart of the community: the first is Dragon’s Dogma, the interpretation of medieval fantasy by a Japanese studio with the director of Devil May Cry 5 at the head, and that very soon will have an adaptation on Netflix (fingers crossed that there will also be a second part), and the second is the game that concerns us today: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
Testament that today is back (thanks to THQ Nordic getting the rights to the IP) looking better than ever in Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, a remastering for PS4, Xbox One and PC made by Kaiko Games, authors of Darksiders Warmastered Edition and Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition, which includes the usual improvements, as well as a few changes and new features.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning puts us in the role of a character (created using an editor that, at the time of its release, was already quite limited) who rises from the dead, with no memory of his past life, to discover that he finds himself right in the middle of a conflict between a sinister faction of immortals, known as the Tuatha, and the rest of the free peoples.
Kingdoms of amalur re-reckoning guide
As you may already know by now, instead of delving into the contents of the game, in this review we are going to focus on the conversion work to Nintendo Switch. In case you want to know how to play it, what the plot is about or know the crazy story of the creation and bankruptcy of those responsible, 38 Studios (it’s worth it, we guarantee), you can check out our review of Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The remastering work in that case was somewhat difficult to appreciate at first glance, since the improvement of the textures was not too evident, but when comparing it with the PS3 and Xbox 360 game you could appreciate a huge leap. First of all the framerate was increased to 60, something that is always an important change, but perhaps what we appreciated the most was the possibility to tinker with the camera options (in the original it was absolutely terrible) and other settings to improve the «quality of life».
So, what about the Nintendo Switch version? Let’s start with the performance: on the hybrid console the framerate drops to 30 with some slowdowns here and there, especially when using attacks containing particle effects (spells, especially). It’s not a perfect performance, that’s for sure, but the truth is that it’s hardly noticeable when playing and doesn’t negatively affect the experience.
